Rajasthan's climate varies with the seasons of the year. The weather in Rajasthan ranges from very hot in summer to chilly in winter. There are four temperature zone in Rajasthan ( Like any other part of India) Summers, Monsoon, Post-Monsoon and winter, the best season to visit Rajasthan begins from Post monsoon seasons.
The Rajasthan climate greatly varies according to the variation in the topography of the region. As Rajasthan has the Thar desert on its western part, the area is much drier and infertile. This part of Rajasthan has tropical or sub-tropical desert type of climate. But the south eastern part of Rajasthan is much wetter, hilly and more fertile. The landlocked state is devoid of moderating influence of the sea.
The Rajasthan climate has winter temperatures ranging from 8° to 28° C and summer temperatures varying from 25° to 46° C .Rainfall also varies; while the western deserts has only 100 mm of rainfall annually, the southeastern part of the state receives 650 mm annually.
Rajasthan has four distinct seasons - Summer, Monsoon, Post- Monsoon and Winter.
Summer = April to June
Monsoon = Late June to September
Post-Monsoon = October to November
Winter = December to March
The best time to visit Rajasthan is during the cooler months from October to March, when the Rajasthan climate is very pleasant.
It is advisable to avoid your trip during summers seasons as you might face the worst climate of Rajasthan. Like any other state of Indian, the summer seasons start from April to June and is the hottest season, with temperatures ranging from 32 degree C to 45 degree C. In western Rajasthan the temp may rise to 48 degree C, particularly in May and June.
You can plan your trip during the Monsoon season that extends from July to September, there is slight drop in the temperature. 90% of rains occur during this period. Despite of low temperature, you might to face strong humidity.
Here begins the seasons where you can actually explore the majesty of the royal abode. The Post-monsoon period is from October to November. The average maximum temperature is 33 degree C to 38 degree C, and the minimum is between 18 degree C and 20 degree C.
This the best period to visit and experience the magic of the golden abode. Winter starts December to March. January is the coolest month of the year. And temp may drop to 0 degree C in some cities of Rajasthan, like Churu. There is slight precipitation in the north and northeastern region of the state, and light winds, predominantly from the north and northeast. At this time, relative humidity ranges from 50% to 60% in the morning, and 25% to 35% in the afternoon.
