Jaisalmer– the Golden City of India
Popularly described as the Golden City of India Jaisalmer is also a worth visiting attractions of Rajasthan tourism. Travellers from all around the world visit this golden city of India. This golden city rising from the heart of 'Thar' desert was founded in 1155 Ad by Rawla Jaisal, a Bhatti Rajput King. Jaisalmer, the city of the golden fort is a fantasy in yellow sandstone in the heart of the Thar Desert. Perched atop the Trikuta Hill, it stands tall against miles of gleaming sand.
The sunset has a peculiar glow here. As the night descends, the sky goes up in flames, which fade leaving a few embers, till it becomes black. A breathtaking sight indeed! Every house, here, is exquisitely carved, having filigreed work all over. These houses date back to 12th – 15th century. And hence Jaisalmer is called ’the Museum city’. The westernmost citadel of the desert,Jaisalmerhas an ancient history linked with its development as a trading center. Parts of its `Golden' fort continue to be inhabited, and its cobbled streets lead through a journey of medieval enchantment.Jaisalmeris famous for the exquisite stone-carved havelisor mansions of the merchants who held the reins of its destiny.

Jaisalmer Fort:: The majestic 250 feet high fort is made up of yellow stones. It as built by the Rajput Ruler Jaisala in 1156. This fort has lot of interesting things to see like the poles & traditional Havelies, you can stay there in the fort coz there are so many hotels & houses in the Fort.
Patwon ki Haveli:: These havelies are beautifully designed & crafted very finely. the Jhali work is simply amazing.
Gadi Sagar Lake:: The lake was once the water supply of Jaisalmer, there are so many beautiful temples around the lake. You can enjoy the boating from 8 AM to 9 PM.
Sam Sand Dunes:: The beautiful sand dunes of Sam & camel safari is a must activity there.
Museums:: There are three major museums in Jaisalmer, they are Desert Culture Museum, Jaisalmer Folklore Museum and Government Museum. All of them are worth to visit.
